And the nominee is...

blume turmeric latte

Our turmeric latte blend is our best seller for good reason, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and yummmmm! This year the blend that started it all was nominated for Product of the Year by the BC Food Processors Association!

So many of you are curious about what that process looks like so we thought we would give you the deets.

On pitch day, we were called in along with other amazing BC brands to talk about why Turmeric Lattes deserved to win the prize. Ella and I would have 3 minutes to present in front of a panel of judges. We were asked about how to use the product, pricing and where you can find it now. Our pitch was live streamed to potential buyers and other connected to the food industry.

Along with telling the judges about the health benefits of turmeric and the story of turmeric elixirs in Ayurvedic tradition, we wanted to showcase to the judges the versatility of our product as our differentiator. To do that, we used our blend in four recipes so the judges could see the potential uses of our powdered format. We served a latte made with almond milk, a mango turmeric lemonade, a golden milk chia pudding topped with a turmeric spiced granola!

We won't know the results until September, but for now we are sharing the recipes here for you to try at home. It was such a fun experience, we were both so nervous but are so happy with how the pitch went and had a lot of fun with it.

We hope you enjoy these recipes!

Mango Turmeric Lemonade:

You can make our latte hot or iced but when summer hits, sometimes you don't want the milk. We served this lemonade up in a tall glass and garnished with a lemon wedge.

1/2 teaspoon of Blume Turmeric Latte Blend
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
Generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Splash of mango juice ( peach and pineapple would work here too)
1.5 cups sparkling or still water

Mix turmeric blend with the honey and lemon juice to create a slurry. Slowly add your mango juice and cold sparkling water. We served this over ice with an extra piece of lemon and get your refreshment on.

Turmeric Spiced Granola:

2.5 cups old-fashioned (large flake) oats
1 cup chopped, sliced or slivered almonds, pecans and/or walnuts
1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional)
1/4 cup seeds (such as flax, sunflower or pumpkin)
1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
2 teaspoons Blume Turmeric Latte Blend
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
pinch of Himalayan salt
1/2 dried fruit cherries, raisins or chopped apricots

Mix ingredients together and spread in an even layer on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 325 F, stirring once. Let cool completely and store in airtight container. Serve with yoghurt and fresh fruit. Supercharged breakfast at the ready!

Golden Milk Chia Pudding:

4 tablespoons Chia Seeds
2 cups plant based milk
1 teaspoon Blume Turmeric Latte Mix
Splash of Vanilla
Maple syrup or honey to sweeten

Whisk all these ingredients together and pop in the fridge overnight. This makes two servings and is a super easy recipe to double or triple. You want to thoroughly incorporate the ingredients to avoid clumping. Top with all the fresh fruit and granola your heart desires.
